Mumo is an extensively experienced Director and Architect and served as Managing Director of PLANNING Systems Services Ltd until March 2022. Mumo’s career at PLANNING has focused on building design, urban regeneration, and sustainable development. He is also founding director of PLANNING Project management Ltd, the group’s project and development management arm, and a trustee of PLANNING’s impactful award-winning Corporate Responsibility initiative: The  Community Cooker Foundation. He manages PLANNING’s portfolio of projects in Kenya, Uganda,
Tanzania, and Rwanda.
Mumo has broad experience in projects of various types and scales including hospitality, commercial retail, high rise buildings and office buildings, large scale mixed-use masterplans, and low- and middle-income affordable housing projects. Mumo has extensive experience advising both Government and Private clients in project and financial structuring. His most recent high-level advisory led initiative has resulted in the delivery of a successful bid to the State Department of Housing and Urban Development for the delivery and coordination of the Urban Development and
Affordable Housing program for the Government of Kenya through the establishment of an Integrated Project Delivery Unit (IPDU), currently under negotiation.
Mumo has passion for motivating of locally owned Kenyan professional service firms to  institutionalize so that they can compete internationally. Since 2011, Mumo has been responsible for leading the reorganization and restructuring of the
PLANNING group of companies and setting it up for the next generation of leaders. Mumo offers advice to professional colleagues, both locally and internationally, on business structuring and succession planning.
In recognition for his contribution to the restoration efforts for the Nairobi Rivers, H.E the President, William S. Ruto appointed Mumo in December 2022 to the Nairobi Rivers Commission, an Independent Government of Kenya Commission, established under the Office of the President, with its the sole mission of reclaiming the heavily polluted rivers of Nairobi as a spine to the city’s blue and green infrastructure for a better urban environment and quality of life
